
National Award for Outstanding Community Service to Vellimalai Ashram
Kanyakumari District Vellimalai Vivekananda Ashram President Swami Chaithanyanandaji Maharaj to be conferred with National Award for Community Service.
Vellimalai Ashram was started in 1940 by Swami Ambananda. Swami Madhurananda followed and Swami Chaidanyanandaji Maharaj took charge and conducted it well. From its inception till now, the Ramakrishna Ashram has received financial support from businessmen and has been providing various assistance to the poor such as social service, educational service and medical service.
It also provides many social services like educational assistance to poor students, medical assistance to patients, marriage financial assistance to poor women. Especially when the tsunami occurred in 2004, camps were set up and food and clothes were given to tens of thousands of poor people. It is also providing various services to the mountain people during the Ogi storm, basic facilities like food supplies, medical assistance to the poor during the corona virus and creating awareness among Hindus by holding religious classes in South India. Appreciating these social services in New Delhi. Vellimalai Vivekananda Ashram has received the award “Tathvapanth Thengadi Seva Samman 2023” on behalf of Mangalam Swaminathan Foundation. The award will be presented at a ceremony to be held in New Delhi on 29th. More than 1000 people applied for this award nationally.
6 organizations were selected for social service, singing, journalism, art and culture, scientific research and those who fought to establish the truth. In this, Vellimalai Vivekananda Ashram President Swami Chaidanyanandaji Maharaj has been selected for the award for community service. Former Union Minister Murali Manohar Joshi is the chief custodian of this foundation. It is noteworthy that Dr.Balashankar has also been featured.
