Swami Chaidanyananda invited Amrita Amma to come to Nagercoil on the occasion of Vidyajyothi graduation ceremony.
The event was held at the Amrita Educational Institution grounds in Nagercoil, surrounded by the beautiful Western Ghats.
Amma gave Vidyajyothi certificates to the students who completed the religious classes conducted by Vellimalai Hindu Dharma Vidyapeedam at five levels namely Elementary, Junior, Bachelor, Higher and Post-Graduate.
A large number of students pass these courses every year. Twenty people have passed this year. Amma gave certificates to those twenty students. It is the 30th anniversary of the first graduation. The first graduation ceremony was held in 1990. So far 650 people have passed.
Ahead of Amrita Amma’s program, students performed foot pooja to their parents, performed homam and took a pledge to serve the society and the country.
Welcoming Amma and thanking her for coming to the program, Swami Chaitanya Natha said that Amma has such big companies and it is touching that she came to the program of such a small company. Swami Vivekandar said, All power is within you. Amma is the best example of that: despite being born in a difficult situation, she summons her spiritual power and spreads it to millions of people.
Whenever I see Amrita Amma, I remember the words of Swami Vivekananda, “Bharatmata is going to sit on the throne, rule the world, spread the teachings of Sanatana Dharma all over the world.” Now I can see people from different countries serving Amma here. Therefore, we are honored to have the opportunity to live in this age of Amma. For that, we might have done a little bit of charity – yes, of course we would have done something good, that’s why we can see mom.
Swami Vivekananda said, “Do not teach economics to the world, but teach the secret of our Vedas hidden in caves and forests and spread it to villages and towns. That is the main service one can do.”
Presenting the certificates at the function, Amma said: I am very happy to see that you are interested in epics and Puranas and that you are studying this culture. It is not enough for you to read about this culture. This should be practiced in daily life and become an example for others. You should also be willing to teach others who are interested in learning this. We do not understand our dharma properly. We go to temples but do not understand the principles behind them. Only when we practice with knowledge can others accept it. My request is that you should learn about our dharma. Even if you do not call our mother (this is Sanatana Dharma) mother, do not allow others to call her adulteress. Respect all mothers. Also know who our mother is. You should not go and sell your mother who nursed you for a meal. Mother prays to God that the dharma towards the motherland that gave birth to us should always remain in the heart.
Amrita Amma gave bhajan and darshan to all who waited patiently before returning to Amritpuri.
